Support Debt Limits

In her State of the State address, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced she would borrow $3.5 billion without taxpayer or legislative approval.

Michigan families can’t afford for any governor – Republican or Democrat – to rack up such massive charges on the state’s credit card overnight.

Senate Bill 716 would put an end to this practice. It would give state lawmakers the chance to veto any bonding proposal of $100 million or more from the unelected state board that approved Whitmer’s $3.5 billion bond deal in under 24 hours. To support commonsense debt limits, sign the petition.
